Do You Want To Decrease Expenses Or Increase Revenue? - Data Mining Company
This morning I was talking to a prospect that had emailed me inquiring about joining my organization.
I always ask . . .
"Why do you want to get into business anyways?"
And most of the time I get . . .
To pay off my debt or reduce my bills.
This is a good answer, but . . .
I typically get the feeling that when most give this answer they are thinking on a short-term time line.
Like by next month they want to have all their bills covered by the cost of their business.
So I typically tread lightly on this issue for the following reason.
It's the wrong reason to start a business, especially a network marketing business.
The big dream is money and time freedom and it's 100% possible, but highly improbable in the short term.
It takes time.
Starting any business no matter how small your budget is going to cost money in some way shape or form.
There are things you can do to get started with very low capital, but the chances of paying off your debt in the short term is not very high.
A business is started to increase revenue over the long haul, not decrease debt.
Imagine going into a loan office to apply for a loan to buy a small multi unit apartment building and having them ask you why you want the loan.
And you answer "To decrease my debt."
They're going to look at you cross-eyed and not give you a loan.
Why?
Well the very act of buying that building increases your debt load substantially.
You're going in the wrong direction.
If you want to decrease your debt do it by decreasing your expenses not taking on a business.
Decreasing debt is a defensive game.
Cutting cost, not eating out, etc.
It's a reductive process.
Starting a business is an offensive game.
Creating opportunity, capitalizing on it, and gaining financial reward for it.
A building process.
Over the long haul in a business you can easily generate enough revenue to cover whatever was your previous debt load, but it's by creating financial opportunity, not spending less.
I think many new networks look at getting started in a network marketing business as a quick fix to their current financial situation. This is by far the worst mindset in the world to start a business.
Because from the outset your mind is focused on reducing your bills today when, in fact, it should be focused on creating massive financial opportunity.
Treat paying your bills off now and your network marketing business as two completely separate issues as they really are.
One financially defensive and one financially offensive.
Or you could very well start a network marketing business for the wrong reason and quit it for the wrong reason.
Use your network marketing business to give you the life you deserve over the span of many many years, but don't try to use it to pay off your bills next month.
